Nick Moran and Jennifer Esposito play undercover cops posing as husband and wife in THE PROPOSAL

THE PROPOSAL

Undercover cop Terry Martin (Nick Moran) has spent six months getting close to unctuous playboy kingpin Simon Bacig (Stephen Lang) and gathering evidence that will bring the brutal mobster to his knees. But when Bacig has a birthday party, Terry and his wife are invited, and attendance is not optional. There's a small problem: Terry doesn't have a wife, but he's been using one as an excuse to get out of tight situations with Bacig. With the help of his police commander (Mike Kopsa), Terry is paired with policewoman Susan Reese (Jennifer Esposito), a lovely cop with ambition and courage but no undercover experience, to attend the party as his bride. Terry, already nervous about the deadly fate awaiting him should Bacig discover he's a cop, now has real problems, as naïve Susan decides to pursue an affair with Bacig to help the case. To complicate Terry's fragile ruse, the FBI decides to close its own investigation of Bacig with firepower despite the danger to Terry and Susan. Furthermore, Susan's affair with Bacig seems to be turning serious even as her feelings for Terry heat up.

JENNIFER ESPOSITO co-starred in the TV series "Spin City" as Stacey Paterno, Michael J. Fox's assistant. She's one of the leads in Spike Lee's film "Summer of Sam," and plays a sexy vampire in "Wes Craven presents: Dracula 2000." Ms. Esposito recently starred opposite Michael Douglas in the thriller "Don't Say a Word," where she plays a New York cop who has a lot in common with the character of Susan Reese in The Proposal. STEPHEN LANG (Simon Bacig) has played the lead in several classic Broadway productions including "Hamlet" and "Death of a Salesman" (with Dustin Hoffman and John Malkovich), and has given critically-acclaimed performances in the films "Last Exit to Brooklyn," "Manhunter," "Tombstone," and many others. He starred in the CBS series "The Fugitive," in which he played the one-armed man, and co-starred in the hit miniseries "Gettysburg." He stars in the new epic miniseries "Gods and Generals,".as General "Stonewall" Jackson. (list of credits)

Who better to play an FBI agent you're not sure you can trust than WILLIAM B. DAVIS, famous as the sinister Cigarette Smoking Man on The X-Files. Mr. Davis has a very distinguished career as a stage director and actor, and for many years has been running his own highly respected acting school in his hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia, where The Proposal (and much of The X-Files) was filmed.
